Dickinson County Board of Supervisors

      Present are Supervisors Chairperson David Gottsche, Mardi Allen, Paul Johnson, Pam Jordan and Wayne Northey.

      Mike Ehret, Emergency Management present, requests a resolution designating the Emergency Operations Center.  Moved by Allen, seconded by Northey to adopt A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF DICKINSON COUNTY, IOWA, APPROVING THE DESIGNATION OF AN EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER (EOC) LOCATED IN THE DICKINSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE COMMUNITY ROOM, to be effective upon completion of the courthouse building and that upon the declaration of an emergency from the EMS director any scheduled events will not be able to meet in the designated room,

      WHEREAS, the County understands the importance of an Emergency Operations Center, or EOC, as a central location where government at any level can provide interagency coordination and executive decision making for managing response to, and recovery from, a disaster; and

      WHEREAS, the County wishes to establish an Emergency Operations Center to coordinate support for responders in the field in the event of a disaster; and

      WHEREAS, the EOC is the “Voice of Government” during an emergency or disaster and exists to protect the population and property as well as returning the community to normalcy; and

      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Board of Supervisors of Dickinson County, Iowa; that the County ahs established an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) located in the Community Room on the first floor of the Dickinson County Courthouse.  Passed, approved and adopted this 6th day of February, 2007.  All voted aye.

 

      Moved by Northey, seconded by Allen to approve the liquor license renewal application of Main Event Bar and Eatery.  All voted aye.

 

      Moved by Jordan, seconded by Allen to approve the elevator maintenance agreement with Schindler Elevator Corporation, Urbandale, Iowa, effective 2/13/2007 for 5 years with an annual payment with 3% discount.  All voted aye.

 

      Presented to the Board the recommendation of the Compensation Board for the salaries of elected officials for the fiscal year 2007-08.  The recommendation is a 4% increase in salary for all the elected officials.  The proposed salaries for FY2008 are:

      Board of Supervisors--$26,970

      Attorney--$59,488

      Auditor--$50,576

      Recorder--$50,039

      Sheriff--$61,284

      Treasurer--$50,039

      Moved by Allen, seconded by Gottsche to approve and accept the recommendation of the Compensation Board for a 4% salary increase for the County’s elected officials for the fiscal year 2007-08.  All voted aye.

 

      Tom Fleming, Wellmark representative, present with annual update on the county’s health insurance group.

             

      There being no further business presented before the Board, it was moved by Johnson, seconded by Allen to adjourn.  All voted aye.
